Sending All The Hearts

Hello everyone! I’ve been having a lot of fun making sugary sweet Valentine’s cards for the Cloud 9 Craftstore challenge and I have another one to share with you today.

For this card, I started by picking out my papers. I chose a soft pink pattern paper from Craft Sensations, a dark magenta cardstock for the envelope outline dies and light kraft toned canson XL sketch paper for the envelope die. The die is from the Botanic Envelope die set from Mama Elephant. I cut all my pieces and put them aside. Next up is stamping. I took a bunch of scrap pieces of Canson Montval 200 gsm watercolor cardstock and stamped all my images (three of the critters and 12 balloons) from the Up With Love stamp set in Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed them with WOW Clear Gloss Super Fine embossing powder. Remember to always use your anti-static powder tool when embossing.

I colored all the images with my Mijello Mission Gold watercolors, giving all the balloons rainbow colors to create a fun, bright and bold look. I let all of them dry completely before fussy cutting them out. I then checked all my diecut pieces again and I thought the envelope needed to blend in with the background a little more. So I took some Worn Lipstick and Tattered Rose Distress Oxide inks and blended them in from the edges to give the envelope a pink hue.

To put the card together I start by adhering my background panel onto my cardbase with double sided tape. I glued the outline diecut onto the envelope die and propped the entire image up onto my card with some foam tape. I then arranged my critters where I wanted them and propped them up with 3mm foam squares. I arranged my balloons, cut off some strings here and there and took a photograph when I was happy with it. I then rearranged them with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive, 1 mm and 2 mm foam squares, creating various levels of dimension on my card.

To finish the card I added a sentiment strip stamped with Versamark ink onto black cardstock and embossed with WOW Bright White Super Fine embossing powder. I cut one end at an angle to give it a bit more interest and propped that up on my card with foam squares as well. I also added Ranger Glossy Accents to all the balloons. You have to keep in mind that I watercolored the balloons, adding any wet medium on top of them will reactivate the watercolors. They can shift and move around when you add Glossy Accents. It barely changed, but I was careful when adding the Gloss on top that I not move it around too much myself.

That finishes up this card! Please let me know if you have any questions. Make sure to follow me on Instagram, I post a new card every day! And subscribe to me on YouTube for video tutorials.
