Hey crafty friends! Today I have a fun set of two cards to share with you. I made these with a new-to-me brand of stamps and I’m so pleased with how they turned out.
For this set I cut two panels of Canson Montval 200 gsm watercolor cardstock to be 5 1/2 x 4 1/4″. These will fit perfectly on my A2 sized cardbases. Next I used my stamping platform to stamp both the camper van and the tent image on my panels in Versafine Onyx Black ink. I embossed them with WOW Clear Gloss Super Fine embossing powder to give them a nice shine. It also deepens the black outlines and it makes watercoloring easier! I then also stamped the moon and stars above the tent in Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed them as well.
Next I moved on to the painting process. I taped the panels down while I was painting on them to minimize the buckling of the paper. I painted the images first using my da vinci maestro kolinsky 10 series brushes in the sizes 2 and 4. For the background I used the number 6 brush to apply a quick wash of paint for the sky. While that wash was still wet I painted in the grass and overlapped it just a sliver with the blue sky, this makes the green flow up in the blue and actually creates a whispy effect of individual blades of grass. I also drop in a couple of different shades of green into the grass to give it more life. For the night scene, I did two coats of a very dark blue but dropped in a brighter blue as well in some places while it was still wet. I don’t like my nightskies to be super even. I actually had painted the stars and moon yellow first, but I went over it with black and then with a gold paint by Finetec. Make sure to let the layers dry completely in between!
Once they were dry I popped them underneath a stack of patterned paper blocks to straighten them out since they had buckled a little between the heat embossing and the painting. After a little bit I take them out again and put them in my stamping platform to stamp the sentiment underneath the mini scenes I created. I first stamped the sentiment on the day scene, made sure the stamps were centered and then popped in my night scene and shifted it up about half an inch using the rulers on the side of my Stamping Platform. Again I used Versafine Onyx Black ink and WOW Clear Gloss Super Fine embossing powder.
To finish up these cards, I just adhered them down on white topfolding cardbases using double sided adhesive. That’s it. Two very quick and very fun cards.
That finishes up this card! Please let me know if you have any questions. Make sure to follow me on Instagram, I post almost every day and it’s where I interact most with people. On Pinterest I have all my cards sorted by occassion, by stamp company, and by coloring technique for easy browsing! You can find my socials at the top and bottom of each post and page. I also made a Cardmaking Discord Server where we can chat all things cardmaking, join here. hope to see you there!
