Hello crafty friends! It’s been so long since I made any kind of interactive card or box card but I finally got around to it again.
For this card I started by stamping my critters. I’m using two Mama Elephant sets for this, the Little Dragon Wishes and the Little Unicorn Agenda stamp sets. I stamped a ton of images from each one onto Canson Montval 200 gsm watercolor cardstock in Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed them with WOW Clear Gloss Super Fine embossing powder. I then colored them in with my Karin Brushmarkers and fussy cut them out.
To put this card together I only used the Mama Elephant Slim Scenescape Rainbow Add on die set, I don’t have the basic die set because I knew it would be easier for me to cut and fold those pieces myself (something about my die cut machine makes it impossible to use dies like this, the score lines usually cut through). You can absolutely use the basic die set for this! But I chose to cut strips of 2″ x 7.25″ for the clouds in the front, scoring them at 3/8″ from each end.
I die cut them with the cloud edge dies that come with the Rainbow Add On die set at different heights. The only other pieces you need are thin strips to connect the clouds too. I cut them to be about 0.5″ wide and 3″ long (they absolutely don’t need to be that long, but I find it easier to work with! The last pieces I diecut are the arched back of the card and a piece that’s meant to be the sun but which I’ll use as a moon. Both of these come in the die set. I cut the moon from Canson Montval 200 gsm watercolor cardstock and everything else from a dark navy shimmer cardstock.
I blended some Mermaid Lagoon from the bottom of the cloud pieces not all the way to the top and stenciled on some clouds on the back piece as well. I painted the moon with the Karin Markers and then embossed a sentiment on the first cloud piece. To put this card together I adhere all the clouds with their little scored flaps to one of the thin strips on the side. I then lay it down flat, folding all the flaps on the other side inward and adhere them all together on the other side strip. I then fold the side strips over the back of the arched piece and adhere them down. I just adhere all the critters in place, using acetate strips to make two of them “fly” and that’s it!
