Rainbow Butterflies

Hi crafty friends! I’m entering the Pinkfresh Studio monthly challenge today. The theme for July is butterflies and I can’t wait to make All The Cards for this!

For this card I only used one stamp set (okay fine, I used another one for the sentiment, but that so doesn’t count): the English Garden stamp set. Now, I’m going to be honest, the only way I was able to make this card is because i absolutely destroyed that stamp. That’s right, I cut it apart. I’m not a fan of matching dies and that’s the whole point of this stamp set being one piece, so you can easily diecut everything at once. I’m not about that life so I cut all the images free to use as individual stamps.

I started by covering a couple of strips of watercolor cardstock in fun blends of Nuvo Shimmer Powders, you can also use metallic watercolor for this, but I find the shimmer of these powders is just prettier and the colors are more vibrant on white cardstock. Once that was completely dry I stamped a bunch of butterflies on there in Versamark ink and embossed them with WOW Bright White super fine embossing powder. I also embossed the leaves on black cardstock using the same ink and embossing powder. I cut them all out and set them aside.

For my background panel I’m using an A2 size piece of Clairefontaine DCP 250 gsm cardstock and I put it in my Misti. I put a couple of the floral stamps in there at once and stamp them in a bunch of different colors. Adding two or three colors of Pinkfresh Studio dye ink to each stamp, making sure to overlap the colors to create a bit of a blend. I then die cut one of the mini slimline diagonal stitch rectangles and trimmed it off to the length I wanted. I put 5 layers of thick white cardstock behind it for dimension. I adhered the butterflies on there with foam squares and tucked the leaves underneath. I also added a sentiment.

That finishes up this card! Please let me know if you have any questions. Make sure to follow me on Instagram, I post a new card every day! And subscribe to me on YouTube for video tutorials. In the supply list you can find all the products I used. Where possible I’ve used affiliate links. If you choose to purchase through these links, I will make a small (5 – 10%) commission to no extra cost to you. This helps me out a ton! You can also use code STUDIOKATO at checkout in the Crafty Meraki store or the Joy Clair Designs store to get 10% off your purchase!
