Bright Birthday Bunny

Hello crafty friends! Today I have a simple card you can make to replenish your birthday card supply. I used some of my paper scraps to make it.

I don’t often know where exactly my cards are going to go right from the start, but this time I did. So I cut all of my paper pieces first.

  • A white panel to fit my cardbase exactly (10.5 x 14.5 cm)
  • A diecut circle from a brightly colored design paper with a small pattern
  • 2 sentiment banners (slightly wider than 1 cm) in colors to match the design paper

I also took a small scrap of Canson Montval 200 gsm watercolor paper to stamp this lovely bunny from My Favorite Things on. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink and WOW Clear Gloss Ultra Fine embossing powder to emboss the bunny on the watercolor paper. While I had my embossing tools out, I also stamped the sentiments on my banners with that same Versafine Onyx Black and WOW Clear Gloss Ultra Fine embossing powder.

With the embossing out of the way, I moved on to painting the image. To color it I used fairly watered down paints to apply an even wash over all the different areas. Then while the paint is still wet, I put down a slightly more concentrated version of the color in the spots that should be a little bit darker. It’s a really quick and easy way to paint your images. I fussycut that out and put it aside.

Lastly I wanted a fun pattern stamped background to go with the “Sweet wishes, sweet friend” sentiment. So I took the small cupcake image from the same My Favorite Things stamp set and stamped it in a linear pattern on my white panel. I used one of the lovely Concord and 9th inks in the color Ballet Slipper. It’s a really nice subtle pink and I should definitely get a refill for this sooner rather than later!

To put the card together, I adhered the white panel down on my cardbase with some double sided tape. For the circle, I let it slightly overhang my cardbase and propped it up with foam tape. I then trimmed it down with my long Tim Holtz shears. I finally propped the bunny image and the sentiment banners up on foam squares.

That finishes up this card! Please let me know if you have any questions. Make sure to follow me on Instagram, I post a new card every day! And subscribe to me on YouTube for video tutorials.
